The Help (Second Half)

Hello my fellow bloggers! I have finished The Help and I definitely take back what I said in my previous blog. This book was absolutely outstanding! I have to say that it is now my favorite book. There were so many twists and turns and I was always on the edge of my seat when I was reading it. Something that I appreciated was that it didn't leave my questions hanging, it answered them. And while I was reading, my points of view really changed. Now I can't wait to watch the movie!

Back to what I was saying about how my points of view changed. One of the characters, Miss Hilly one of the white ladies, used to be on my good side and now she is the most devilish and cunning in the book. And I thought Miss Leefolt, one of Miss Hilly's friends, was worse since she laid her hand on her daughter Mae Mobely. Miss Hilly had embarrassed Miss Celia Foote, the white woman that Minny works for, just because she married her so called "love of her life" Mister Johnny. She attempted sending her old friend Miss Skeeter to jail just for carrying around the laws of black people. Not to mention that whenever their book The Help was published, Miss Hilly accused innocent maids of writing the book when they had nothing to do with it and fired them. Isn't that just pure evil?! I also used to admire Minny for her sense of standing up for herself. But as I got further into the book, she started sassing Miss Celia when she has done nothing to wrong her. Don't get me wrong or anything, I still love Minny.

Also when I was reading I was literally about to explode with all of the excitement and suspense happening. I was constantly thinking, Is she really going to do that? Will they get in trouble for it? Something that I had been eagerly waiting to figure out was the story behind the pie and Minny. When I read about what happened with the pie all I can say was that I was shocked. But I don't want to give away that little story. And after chapters and chapters I finally got to the part where the truth behind Constantine, Miss Skeeter's old maid, and where she is. Another thing that really got me was the ending of the book. In most of the books I've read it has such a predictable and typical ending. Like everything is back to normal and everyone is happily enjoying their lives. But this ending was happy with a little twist. Some people in the end got what they hoped for while some were still trying to find their happy ending.

Now that I have finished The Help I have gotten Savvy by Ingrid Law. I hope this book will reach my standards. And my standards for books are pretty high. See ya!!
