Hey, this is Minha writing my first blog to start off my reading filled summer! I know most people enjoy watching movies a lot. But how many of you prefer watching movies over reading a book? Well, have you ever noticed that they are very similar? When watching a movie you feel like the main character and go through their problems and feel like you're really apart of the movie. And when you read a book you read about difficulties and the emotions that that character is going through and making it seem you are apart of the story as well. When you read a book you make things how you want it to be. You get to choose what the characters look like, how the setting is, and how things are done. So basically, it's like you're creating a movie and watching it inside your head. Pretty cool, huh?
Reading also takes you on many journeys to places where you've never been before. Like in The Help by Kathyrn Stockett it takes you back to the 1960's when there was segregation between blacks and whites. The book that you're reading describes in such a detailed way what the setting is like, that you feel that you're practically there. Like when I was reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins I felt like I was in the arena with predators lurking around with the suspense in me for when they are going to come and attack me. One night I fell asleep reading it and in my dream I was Katniss! I was in the same position she was in and had to think myself out of the situation. A book is like a transporter that takes you to any time period or any place in the world or even the future! Where has a book taken you?!
I am a big time reader but that's only when I've found that just right book. If it's not my type of book, it'll be a drag for about 2 months (depends how bad the book is). I am a pretty harsh critic when it comes to books. I'll either read it nonstop or slap it down on a table and say, "I'M DONE!" But when I read I feel like I'm in another world!

Thanks for adding a post, Minha! I laughed when I saw your comment about slapping the book down and shouting "I'm DONE". I can see you doing just that. It is amazing how a bad a bad book truly can be. Here's to you finding some amazing books this summer!!
